Kiyomi Solace
Tarynn Kiyomi Sales is a descendant of the lineages of Japan, Okinawa, and the Philippines, born on O’ahu, Hawai’i.
In Japanese, Kiyomi (清見) can be expressed with multiple kanji. Together, KIYO (聖) and MI (見) mean “holy, sacred vision”. Separately, KIYO (清) means “light, purity, clarity”, while YOMI (黄泉) means “the deep unseen realm beneath the world”. Beyond darkness, 黄泉 means “the golden spring”, a deep source, the womb of the earth. Thus, Kiyomi is the light that emerges from the deep, golden spring, mirroring the dance between illumination and shadow.
Sales is a Spanish surname assigned to her Illocano ancestors of Northern Luzon, during the 1849 Claveria Decree, a colonial naming reform. Sales translates to “salt”, and is pronounced, “solace”.
Therefore, Kiyomi Solace is an expression of polarity, wholeness, and rebirth: a weaving between light and dark, the yang and yin, form and essence. She is a living sanctuary where her ancestors may rest.
In this lifetime, Kiyomi Solace exists as a movement artist/teacher, & natural fiber fashion designer/seamstress, a gardener, & a healer (BSN, RN, Jikiden Okuden Reiki Practitioner).
